Croydon Arena is to stage beginners’ duathlon this Sunday, August 30, aimed at those who want to give the run-bike-run sport, a variant of the triathlon, their first… try.
Staged in the enclosed, secure athletics stadium in South Norwood, the event consists of a four-lap run, eight laps on a bike, and finishing with a four-lap run.
The event, including use of bicycles and helmets, is free.
The organisers say, “As Croydon is a Heart Town we are looking to encourage people to be more active and lead healthier lives.” Donations can be made to the British Heart Foundation on the day.
“There are a limited number of bikes and helmets available – please contact the organiser to check availability.”
Registration is between 9.45am and 10.30am. Race Briefing for all competitors from 10.30am to 10.45am.
Duathlon starts from 11am.
The organisers also say: “Helmets must be worn when cycling – no exceptions. No headphones and no bare torsos.”
