Warlingham RFC, just up Limpsfield Road, having installed a new big screen TV in the main hall, is transforming itself into the place to be to watch the Rugby World Cup, which kicks off next week. Unless you have one of those vastly over-priced tickets for Twickenham, of course.
Starting next Friday, September 18, ahead of the opening ceremony (yawn…) and first match, when England play Fiji, the Warlingham club bar and kitchen will be open from 6pm. The kitchen will be serving pre-match chilli until kick off, with half-time pies, sausage rolls and pasties.
Doom Bar and Carling will be £2.99 per pint for all England matches. There does not appear to be a similar discount during Wales, Scotland or Ireland games, which seems a bit of a missed opportunity…
From 6pm next Friday, there will be games outside the clubhouse for kids (and anyone that fancies a run around before the game), and youngsters attending will gets kids packs with England flags, wrist bands, water bottles, key rings, plus colouring and puzzle sets, too, first come, first served.
The other group games when food and drink offers are available are all 8pm kick-offs on Saturdays, following that day’s club rugby fixtures:
Sat Sep 26 England v Wales
Sat Oct 3 England v Australia
Sat Oct 10 England v Uruguay
