The 2016 Addiscombe Festival will be staged in Ashburton Park on Whitsun weekend, Sunday, May 29. But next year there will be no parade beforehand.
Keith Nicholas, one of the organisers, said, “Due to a various circumstances beyond our control, we have had to cancel the parade on several occasions. A lot time and effort was spent in organising the parade, so for now we are going to concentrate on the festival in the park.
“To this effect we invite anybody and everybody to get involved – from individuals, community groups, charities and corporate organisations.
“We strongly recommend downloading the application pitch form from the carnival website as soon as possible to guarantee your place. This is an excellent opportunity to promote yourself, your business and your community and personal skills as well as establishing and making new networking contacts.
“We need to remember the aims and goals of this event are to promote a strong and caring community and to establish an event that brings fun, enjoyment and community rapport. The festival is also a platform to raise awareness and funds for the nominated charity.”
