Helen Johnson, a local teacher and history enthusiast, will be conducting a fascinating tour of notable graves of Beckenham Cemetery, at Elmers End, this Sunday, November 1.
Part of the history programme of the 2015 South Norwood Arts Festival, the walk and talk will allow you to visit the last resting places of such luminaries as William Stanley, William Walker, Thomas Crapper (yes! him!) and England’s greatest cricketer, WG Grace, who died 100 years ago this year.
Waterproof footwear and umbrella advisable. In case of bad weather, call 07980 598 767 beforehand.
To start at 2.30pm, meet outside office at cemetery entrance in Elmers End Road, BR3 4TD (Birkbeck is the nearest tram stop).
