The organisers of the wassailing event in the new community orchard at Addiscombe Railway Park later this month have been so overwhelmed with the response from people wanting to take part in this ancient ritual that they are seeking extra volunteers to help set-up and marshal the event, on January 30.
“This is a free community event run entirely on the goodwill of our volunteers,” Lauren Ashley-Boyall, one of the organisers, told Inside Croydon.
“If you would like to help out by bringing along some refreshments to share, setting up, helping with tours, welcoming and guiding our guests, clearing up afterwards or some other special talent you feel you could share to make the event a success, then please get in touch we would love to hear from you.”
After all, if it’s good enough for Ambridge, it’s good enough for Addiscombe.
