It’s a shame that, according to the Charity Commission’s website, the accounts and annual return of the Mayor of Croydon’s Charity Fund (the charity for which funds are being raised) are, to date, 52 days overdue in being submitted to the Charity Commission. The trustees should take care, as not only does this undermine the charity’s transparency and reputation, but failing to submit charity accounts on time is a criminal offence.

I can’t think why Brother Newman isn’t doing a turn. He’d bring the house down!!!

“Jon Richardson, Reginald D Hunter, Mark Steel, Seann Walsh and Kevin Day are to perform at The Mayor of Croydon’s Charity fundraising event on the 17th April at the Fairfield Halls. Croydon Mayor, Cllr. Patricia Hay-Justice said “I was thrilled to learn that so many household names were willing to support my two charities, CAYSH and Mind in Croydon. We are in for a great evening of comedy to support two great causes”. Tickets for the show, which will also include special guests, are available from the Fairfield Halls box office. 020 8688 9291

This is an event with a really local feel; Mark Steel lives in Croydon and once stood for the the London Assembly in the seat currently being warmed by Steve O’Connell; Kevin Day, perhaps more famously known as a Palace fan is also a long time supporter of the Mind in Croydon football team ‘The Croydon Eagles’; Reginald D Hunter has been to Croydon, Jon Richardson lived near here once and Seann Walsh probably knows where it is. More importantly all of the money raised will be used to support young homeless people in Croydon and people suffering any kind of mental difficulty, again in Croydon
