It’s the Queen’s 90th birthday celebration weekend. Gawd bless ‘er.

Sutton council leader Ruth Dombey: OBE for services to the incineration business
Was she nominated for the honour by incinerator operators Viridor?
So Dombey gets “honoured” for doing what she is paid to do, a local political functionary who acts largely in the interests of her political party, rather than the residents she and her fellow councillors are supposed to represent.
So we now have:
Ruth Dombey OBE
Elaine Drage MBE
Colin Drummond MBE; and
Sue Riddlestone MBE
The common link between these four characters, all closely associated with Sutton, is they all use the weasal phrase “Energy Recovery Facility”, or ERF, when referring to the vast, industrial scale incinerator which Viridor is having built at Beddington Lane and which, off the back of a £1 billion contract with local authorities, could be polluting the air across south London for three decades.
Honours all round! Gawd bless ’em.
