Just look what is being done in the name of Croydon Council this week in the sunny South of France at the MIPIM “booze and hookers’ fest” conference in Cannes.
Croydon, according to the latest bit of marketing bullshit from Grey Label, is now “the Urban Edge”, as they lay out public assets at the disposal of international property speculators.
Part of the PR’s activity this week is organising something they have called a “racket”. Well, we did warn you.
MIPIM begins today, with Croydon Council’s £185,000 a year self-publicist CEO Jo Negrini in attendance to schmooze with developers, offering free food and beer to anyone who happens to be passing. Because that’s what is considered appropriate conduct in 2017 for a local authority.
And to think that Croydon Labour’s council leader, Tony Newman, nailed MIPIM in the past when he described the whole affair as a “junket”. But he was in opposition then, and not in any position to do anything about it… Oh.
