Screen25, the South Norwood film club, returns to its weekly schedule with some bonus events in September, with its usual eclectic range of offerings, from Spielberg’s take on virtual reality, to Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs, through to the harsh realities shown by the documentary, Black Power Mixtape.
The latter film is being shown to mark the anniversary of the 1968 uprisings and the Civil Rights and Black Power movements, the screening in partnership with Black Cultural Archives.
The season begins on September 5 with Lady Bird, Greta Gerwig’s acclaimed comedy drama, which had five Oscar nominations and won two Golden Globes, one of which was won for best actress by Saoirse Ronan. There’s an additional screening on September 7, together with the Bechdel Film Test, when there will be a post-film party.
Tickets are now on sale for all screenings, with Inside Croydon subscribers entitled to a £2 discount on each ticket booking (one per screening).
All films are at 7.45pm, £5 – £8.50 (£2.50 off tickets for members; £2 off for Inside Croydon subscribers) and held at Harris Academy South Norwood, SE25 6AE, unless otherwise stated
