Sixth formers sprinkle Christmas cheer at Coulsdon College

Coulsdon residents were treated to an evening of festive entertainment and fun earlier this month, courtesy of pupils from the Coulsdon Sixth Form College.

A Coulsdon Christmas night out: neighbours, businesses and the local vicar were all in attendance at Coulsdon Sixth Form College

Art students at the college invited the local resident associations, the Friends of Grange Park, church wardens and the local vicar, as well as business owners and neighbours to the college to enjoy songs, poetry, bingo and afternoon tea.

Old Coulsdon Residents’ Association commented on the event on social media: “It was a wonderful evening. We were so impressed by the students, they were so friendly, polite and enthusiastic. We look forward to working closely together in the future.”

Fiona Brennan, the deputy principal of Coulsdon Sixth Form College said: “Thie was our first community event led by our lower sixth students to strengthen links with our local community groups, businesses and residents and to give them an insight into the wonderful work that we do.

“I was delighted by our students’ enthusiasm, professionalism and care for our guests. They hosted the event superbly, giving all our guests a truly excellent impression of themselves and the college. I am extremely proud of them all.”

Pupils used the event to explain their need for work experience placements.

They also want local residents’ advice they would give their younger selves.

  1. Students wanted local residents’ advice that they “would give their younger selves.” Let’s hear what advice IC’s readers would give their younger selves. Mine would be, “make a home in Bromley, it’s a lovely place and avoid Croydon like the plague – it might look superficially attractive now, but in a few years it will become a shit-hole”
