For our latest exclusive prize competition, Inside Croydon has teamed up with the lovely people at Southwark Playhouse Borough to offer two pairs of tickets to see the “stonking” new play with live music: Wilko: Love and Death and Rock ‘n’ Roll.
In 2012, rock star Wilko Johnson, the founder of seminal R&B group Dr Feelgood, was told he had inoperable cancer and a year to live.
Refusing all treatment, he decided to spend his last months living meaningfully: seeing the people, places and things which meant most to him during his remarkable life.
Then, a miracle happened…
A mixture of words, rock ’n roll, and quotes from the man himself, tells the amazing, uplifting true story of Wilko, the Canvey Island legend.
Wilko: Love and Death and Rock ’n Roll transfers to Southwark Playhouse Borough following critical and audience acclaim in its initial run in Hornchurch in 2023.
Thanks to the Southwark Playhouse, Inside Croydon has two pairs of tickets for the performance of Wilko: Love and Death and Rock ‘n’ Roll on Saturday March 29 at 7pm.

Quite a show: Wilko: Love and Death and Rock ’n Roll is on stage at the Southwark Playouse Borough until Apr 19
To win, all you have to do is email Inside Croydon with the correct answer to a simple quiz question with “WILKO” in the subject header by midday on Tuesday, March 4.
As well as your answer, please include a daytime contact phone number and your postal address.
The first TWO correct answers chosen at random will be declared the winners, and will be contacted in the following few days to arrange to receive their prizes.
This competition is open only to fully paid-up patrons of Inside Croydon. Click here to sign up now as an Inside Croydon patron.
So… Drum roll… Guitar riff… Here’s the question:
Name the Dr Feelgood live album, featuring Wilko Johnson, that topped the UK album charts in 1976
All you have to do now is:
- Make sure you’re signed up as an Inside Croydon subscriber
- Email the correct answer to inside.croydon@btinternet.com with “WILKO” in the subject header
- Make sure you have done it before midday on March 4, 2025.
Prize-winners must be available to attend the performance of Wilko: Love and Death and Rock ’n Roll on Saturday, March 29. Prize-winners will be responsible for their own travel to and from the venue for the performance. Our other usual Ts&Cs apply, no cash alternative to the prize and the Editor’s decision is final.
Good luck!
