New Addington tram service closed next two Sunday mornings

There will be no tram service to New Addington for the next two Sunday mornings – August 17 and August 24 – due, once again, “to essential engineering works”.

Out of service: there will be no tram service between Sandilands and New Addington, including Lloyd Park and Coombe Lane, for the next two Sunday mornings

Transport for London issued its advisory note today, saying that there would be no service between Sandilands and New Addington between 00.30am and 11.30am on the two summer Sundays.

This disruption is in addition to the on-going “essential upgrade works” at an emergency crossing opposite Coombe Wood School, between the Lloyd Park and Coombe Lane tram stops, which is going on into September.

This is on a part of the network between Sandilands and New Addington.

As part of the upgrade on Coombe Lane, night time works are scheduled for August 17 and August 24, and today’s announcement of no service for 11 hours on those dates suggests that TfL’s engineers require more time to complete their works on those days.

TfL has said previously: “During the planned work, London Trams will operate a normal service except during August 17 and 24 when timetable amendments will be in place.”

In the announcement today, TfL said: “From 00:30 until 11:30 on Sunday August 17 and on Sunday August 24, there will be no tram service between Sandilands and New Addington due to essential engineering works.

“Please check before you travel, allow more time for your journey and where possible consider using local buses, walking or cycling. Our Journey Planner and TfL Go app can help you plan your journey as required.

“We are sorry for any disruption this may cause.”

TfL also offers a 24/7 customer services line for any passengers or residents with “questions or concerns”: 0343 222 1234.
