Croydonites is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a cracking line-up of performance, comedy, storytelling, magic, film and immersive theatre, featuring 30 artists during the three week-long festival.
It all kicks off on October 8 with an evening of magic by Tom Cassani whose obsession with the skill and precision of sleight of hand asks us to consider the impossible. He is supported by Norvil and Josephine who bring us breathtaking illusions and comical contortions.
Croydonites 2025 features an impressive clutch of hits straight from the Edinburgh Festival, after amassing a serious collection of 4- and 5-star reviews. They include In Bed With My Brother, an anarchic performance trio with their new work Philosophy of World, Hannah Maxwell with her cheekily titled BABYFLEAREINDEERBAG, storyteller extraordinaire James Rowland with James Rowland Dies at the End of the Show, Selina Thompson’s film of her hit show salt : dispersed and Croydonites’ favourite returnees Sh!t Theatre with a work in progress, Evita Too.
Dick’s Picks, curated by your friendly local comedian Dick Denham is back for a second year with a line-up worthy of the Comedy Club. Headlined by Fatiha El-Ghourri and also featuring Sharifa Butterfly, James Allerton, CK Nath, James Murphy and the man himself Dick Denham. They will be kept in order by MC Leslie Gold.
As ever, we are proud to present the work of local artists including Adeola Yemitan and Catherine Pestano, as part of our CroydonBuilds programme and Anita Wadsworth, Dino Desica, Mitra Djalili and Good Wolf/Peace of MIND as part of CroydonBites.
We are also delighted to welcome locals Jack and Antonia who playfully explore race and parenthood in All Mixed Up, and offer some thrilling outdoor physical theatre from Simple Cypher on Saturday October 11 in the centre of town.
We have a real treat for all immersive theatre fans from TomYumSim Theatre Company and their new work Trainwreck. We are taking over the CYTO building to give you an experience that mixes up AI and DIY with hilarious results.
