Waitrose Coulsdon has reopened following a multi-million-pound refurbishment.

Fresh start: the Coulsdon Waitrose has been on the site since October 1971
The branch, which has been at the Brighton Road site since October 1971, was back in business yesterday morning “primed and ready to greet customers with everything from fresh produce and the best quality meat, fish and cheese, as well as desserts and beer, wine and spirits”, say Waitrose, part of the John Lewis Partnership.
John Hickton, the branch manager, said: “Just in time to celebrate our 54th anniversary, it is my great pleasure to welcome customers to the new and improved Waitrose Coulsdon. Thank you to the team behind the transformation. We’re ready with even more of the very best food and drink plus the great service Waitrose is famous for.”
Following the refurb, Waitrose say that the branch offers a better selection of fresh produce, an increased spirits selection, and it has expanded its “food to go” selection of sandwiches and lunchtime choices.
There is now also a dedicated John Lewis Click and Collect Desk and more self-service tills as well as staffed-checkouts.
The branch, which provides almost 60 jobs, also has new, energy-efficient fridges and more car parking spaces.
“Local customers are able to pick up John Lewis, Waitrose Entertaining and Waitrose Cellar orders in store, as well as order home delivery from the shop using Deliveroo, Just Eat and UberEats,” the company said, as it rolls out a £1billion investment in refurbished and new stores around the country.
