Purley Way store’s Next move is to sell women’s and menswear

Next is re-opening its store off Purley Way tomorrow morning after a full conversion from the previous home-only offering to now include key womenswear, menswear and children’s lines.

Transformed: Next off the Purley Way re-opens tomorrow with a much broader product offer

The massive refurbed shop – there’s 14,634 sq ft of trading space – on the Trojan Way business park will be open for business from 10am tomorrow, October 22.

This major move to the out-of-town location, which offers free parking, will inevitably prompt speculation about the future of Next’s shops in Centrale on North End, which is managed by Westfield.

Next said that the revised Trojan Way store, “marks a significant transformation for the Croydon location…

“The conversion aligns with Next’s latest store concept,” they said, talking of “enhancing the customer experience” by having “updated wall finishes, modern equipment, improved visual merchandising and a wide selection of mannequins”.

Next has more than 450 shops across the UK and Ireland, and operates online in 70 countries.

The Purley Way store’s manager, Karen Simons, said, “We’re excited to be bringing our full range of women’s, men’s, children’s and home collections back to Croydon. Our team is looking forward to welcoming both new and returning customers through the doors.”

Going forward, the shop will be open from 9am to 8pm on weekdays, 9am to 7pm on Saturdays and 11am to 5pm Sundays.

  1. Time for a congestion charge on the A23, and taxes on the free parking at its retail sheds, which inflict huge social and environmental costs on all of us

My opinion has long been that what I call “flat” car parks should be banned. They should be above or below shops, allowing the land to be greened – grass, trees, etc.

  2. Looks like another resident of North End could soon be vacating Perry’s Parade of Blight.

  3. Adrian Waters says:

Next will obviously do whatever maximises their profits but I’m unlikely to go to Purley Way as I don’t have a car. The town centre is more convenient for me.

  4. Sam Olvier says:

Croydon Town Centre isn’t a draw …it’s an absolute shithole. Dining, leisure and recreational wise ; aside from Boxpark and Tokia Square , Purley Way offers everything the Town Centre has and more plus free parking , no ppl harassing you, no druggies, clean pavements/ parking lots etc. Croydon Council must be commended for Purley Way and the commerce it attracts but id expect them to fuck it up by raising business rates and getting greedy like they always do.
