A classic whodunnit with a smattering of laughs comes to Selsdon Hall next week, when CODA, the Croydon Operatic and Dramatic Association, revives one of Queen of Crime Agatha Christie’s thrillers, Spider’s Web.

Desperate to dispose of the body before her husband comes home with an important foreign politician, diplomat’s wife Clarissa persuades her three house guests to become accessories and accomplices.

The murdered man was not unknown to certain members of the house party (but which ones?), and the search begins for the murderer and the motive, while at the same time trying to persuade a police inspector that there has been no murder at all…

CODA’s Spider’s Web stars Carys Surbey as Clarissa Hailsham-Brown and David Mestecky as Sir Rowland Delahaye. The play is directed by Michael Hall.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside this amazing cast and creative team and I’m very excited to take on the role of Clarissa,” Surbey said. “Who knows, maybe the audience will be convinced by the web she spins?”

Hall said, “We are so excited to present such a gripping mystery, with a wonderful vein of humour running through it. I’m sure audiences will love it.”

Spider’s Web runs at Selsdon Hall, 132 Addington Road, from Thursday Nov 13 to Sunday November 16, with evening performances at 7.45pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, a matinee on Saturday November 15 at 2.30pm and a final performance on Sunday November 16 November at 4pm.
