Five people escaped the flames as a takeaway in Thornton Heath was destroyed by fire.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire on Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The LFB says that the fire originated “from a commercial fryer”.

The Brigade received the first of six calls about the fire at 1.28am on June 17 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Norbury and West Norwood fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 2.39am.
