At least one Croydon MP gets up to speed: @GavinBarwellMP

Inside Croydon would like to extend a warm welcome to the Twittersphere to Gavin Barwell, MP for Croydon Central, who has signed up to Twitter in the last day or so: @GavinBarwellMP.

Interestingly, the local MP’s first Tweeted concern has been to call on Croydon Council not to close Shirley Library.

Barwell already has an interesting list of people whom he follows, including @InsideCroydon. We will certainly be following his Tweeted activities with interest.

One Twitterer that Barwell does not follow is Malcolm Wicks, MP for Croydon North (who is @MalcolmWicks ; thanks to reader Oliver Lewis for the heads up with that).

Unsurprisingly, Richard Ottaway, Croydon South’s absentee MP, has not yet gone digital. We are not sure whether this is due to technical incompetence, ignorance, or the possibility that if he started to use Twitter, others might be able to map how little time Ottaway bothers to spend in his constituency.
