Two former Mayors of Croydon, Pat Hecks and Derek Millard, have died.
Pat Hecks, a Conservative councillor for Croham from 1982 to 1998, was also a chairman of Social Services when Peter Bowness was the council leader.
He was also a Croydon College governor.
Hecks was well known for being an empathetic character who cared for those who had fallen on hard times.
Derek Millard, after retiring from his job in The City, came to serve on Croydon Council after having been active at senior levels in the Croydon South Conservative Association where, when chairman, he played a key role in securing Richard Ottaway as the parliamentary candidate in Croydon South.
Millard was a Purley councillor from 1994 until 2006.
