The volunteers who have helped to rescue the David Lean Cinema from the oblivion of Tory cuts are appealing for your support – and a quick online nomination – in this year’s Time Out‘s Love London awards.
The listings weekly has previously failed to include Croydon in its “London” awards – shame on them! – but this year it has a full section for the London borough, with the David Lean Cinema in the Clocktower among one of the possibilities in the cultural section. Since this section is a little threadbare, and even includes one theatre which was demolished three years ago (fingers on the pulse there, Time Out!), the arthouse cinema must have an excellent chance of doing well if Inside Croydon‘s loyal reader gets behind it.
The nominations system is open until the end of the month.
“After the nominations there’s a vote,” say the Save the David Lean Campaigners. “Obviously, we believe the David Lean is worth an award! If you agree, can you nominate us, using this button.” The process takes just a couple of minutes, though you’ll need to sign-up with Time Out, as their marketing department ruthlessly scrapes your data…
