The council is asking residents who have used domestic abuse and sexual violence services in the borough to give feedback on the support available.

The findings from a new survey will be used to help develop the council’s Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls – VAWG – delivery plan.

This will outline how the council will work with partners including the police, health, education and social care to provide the right support, at the right time, to women and girls at risk of or experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence and VAWG in Croydon.

The plan will also highlight how the council and its partners will be addressing a wide range of gender-based violence including things that can be done to make women feel safer on streets and transport in the borough.

Opportunities to work with communities to raise awareness and promote support within key areas such as schools and GP surgeries will also be included.

Experiences and views are sought on the council’s domestic abuse service, the Family Justice Service, as well as the awareness of support options available from voluntary and charity organisations.

Professionals from organisations such as police, probation, health, education, and voluntary and charity sectors are also asked to give their views in a separate survey.

Views will also be used in the development of the plan which is expected to be presented to cabinet this month.
