The RSPCA has issued an urgent appeal for information after eight bulldog puppies were found dumped and left to die in a shopping bag.

The pups are getting lots of attention at the animal charity’s local centre, after they were found last week by a member of the public in woods off Hare Hill, in Addlestone. They had been abandoned in an Aldi supermarket bag.

The person who found them took the dogs to the RSPCA’s Millbrook Animal Centre in Chobham.

The pups are thought to be bulldog breeds and aged around five weeks old. They are said to be doing well, despite the unpromising start they have had.

RSPCA Inspector Natalie Kitchin said: “It is heartbreaking to think that anything could have happened to them when they were left out in the open on their own. They are far too young to be away from their mum, too.

“I’m urging anyone who has any information about these puppies to get in touch with us so we can look further into why they were abandoned like this.”

The RSPCA receives more reports of cruelty to animals during the summer than at any other time of year.
