Podcast: What Donald Trump’s election win might mean for us

Inflation x Incumbency = political death

Inflation x Incumbency x Immigration = political catastrophe, particularly for the Left

That’s the devastating equation to take away from the elections in America, according to the latest expert guest on our new podcast strand.

Croydon resident Marcus Roberts is the director of international projects at YouGov, one of the world’s leading polling organistions, and he was in the United States for the run-in to polling day that saw Donald Trump returned to the White House ahead of Democrat candidate Kamala Harris.

“If you’re explaining, you’re losing,” was something former President Ronald Reagan once said. Roberts suggests that with current global communications platforms, the idea behind Reagan’s aphorism presents a significant challenge for progressives across the world.

Roberts also explains what “Deliverism” is, and how it hasn’t worked.

Discussion even extends to revitalising Croydon town centre (stick with it, all becomes clear at the end!).

Our latest in-depth and informed Andrew Fisher Interview looks back on the massively significant outcome of last month’s US Presidential elections, and reaches some devastating conclusions for what it could mean for election candidates in Britain and Europe in the coming years.

The Andrew Fisher Interview is our new podcast strand from Under The Flyover, available exclusively to paying subscribers of Inside Croydon.

Each month, our star columnist will be talking to national and international figures about the political, economic and social issues, global and closer to home, that affect day to day life in Croydon.

  1. ‘Red Andy’ and other so-called ‘progressives’ must be in a terrible state since their waffly candidate lost the election so overwhelmingly. Your time is up, Andy – ‘progressives’ have had their day and America’s working class have wrested the levers of power from ‘progressives’. Hopefully ordinary people who want freedom, justice and food on their plates can now re-claim to be today’s progressives and wrest the term away from the Corbynists of yesteryear. .
