Man, 57, arrested on suspicion of rape in South Norwood Rec

The police have arrested a man on suspicion of rape in South Norwood Rec on Sunday.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Metropolitan Police said: “A 57-year-old man remains in police custody after he was arrested on Tuesday, July 22, following an alleged rape in South Norwood Recreation Ground, Croydon, at 19.48hrs on Sunday, July 20.”

South Norwood Rec, close to Norwood Junction Station, has entrances on Tennison Road, Cargreen Road and Selhurst Road.

Officers believe the arrested man is known to the victim of the alleged rape, who is being supported by specialist officers.
