‘Travel disruption’: Croydon’s trams seemed unaffected by the light snow overnight/KT
PHOTOSTORY: Locals woke up this morning to a dusting of light snow, turning parts of the borough into picture postcard scenes. ALAN ROBSON, on Farthing Down, and KEN TOWL, in the Addington Hills, were out and about bright and early to capture the scenes

The forecast snow duly arrived as predicted by the weatherman. Though in these parts, the light dusting would not survive a morning gentle January sunshine.
The gritters were out overnight as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for London and the south-east – suggesting the possibility of travel disruption this morning.
Apart from a van, which had strayed off the road on Ditches Lane, captured among a set of photographs from Alan Robson, a member of the Friends of Farthing Down group on Faustbook, there was little sign of any serious problems on the roads or public transport.
The weather warning expired at noon today, with no further snow forecast over what should be a bright, if chilly, weekend.
The weather forecasters are predicting the possibility of further snow in a week’s time.
