Do you live in an office conversion flat? Workshop: June 22

Do you live in a property that used to be a shop or office?

Sign up to this important workshop at the South West London Law Centres Croydon office on Keeley Road on Monday, June 22, from 10am to noon. Breakfast will be provided and people with experience of living in an office or shop conversion will receive £40 voucher for their time in attending.

Booking is essential as spaces are limited. To book contact Rhi by emailing community@swllc.org or phoning 020 8208 5757 and quoting “office to residential”.

This is an artist-led workshop and participants will contribute to a piece of art that will be displayed publicly to highlight the experiences of those living in office to residential conversions.

Since 2013 there has been a boom in offices, restaurants and shops being converted into living spaces through permitted development rights, or “PD”. These conversions don’t have to go through the same planning scrutiny as standard residential developments or make the same community contribution for the impact the developments will have on local infrastructure.

Although not all PD conversions have issues, we know some conversions across south-west London with no shared outdoor space for children to play, limited access for emergency vehicles, reduced light, fire risks and extreme heat.

Whatever type of experience you have had living in these conversions, be part of this workshop.

South West London Law Centres (Croydon office) is at Unit 41-42 Keeley Road, Centrale Shopping Centre, CR0 1TF.

Booking is essential.
