‘Unexplained death’: Nicole Beling was found in her home in South Croydon
A 61-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, but later released. The man was re-arrested on August 1, and has been “bailed while enquiries continue”, according to the Met.
The police say Beling’s death is being treated as “unexplained”.
The Met said in a statement: “Her cause of death remains under investigation.”
Nicole Beling was 60 years old.
Police were called just after midnight on July 17 “after a woman was reported missing by a family member”.
“She was graded as a high-risk missing person and officers attended her home in Dittoncroft Close later that morning to conduct enquiries into her disappearance.
“Following a search of the property, officers discovered the body of the woman.
“Enquiries into the circumstances of her death continue and are being led by specialist officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.”
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell said: “A formal murder investigation has not been launched at this time and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding Nicole’s sad death.
“We want to hear from anyone who knew Nicole or may have information that could assist the investigation – and help us find answers for her family.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 1695/17AUG26. Information can also be provided via Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111.
