There’s monsters coming to central Croydon next week – and not just at the Town Hall!

On a monster hunt: vivid colours and puppet action make There’s A Monster In Your Show at the Fairfield Halls the perfect theatre trip for toddlers
There’s A Monster In Your Show is playing at the Fairfield Halls from October 22 to 23.
Tom Fletcher’s interactive adventures for big imaginations, based on the much-loved Who’s in Your Book? series, leapt from page to stage last year and quickly became a must-see family musical theatre show.
Mother and Baby Magazine called it, “The perfect toddler theatre show.” The Evening Standard (remember them?) said it is “Fun and highly inclusive for the whole family… other productions aimed at young children and families could learn a lot from There’s A Monster In Your Show.“
There’s A Monster In Your Show has now been seen by more than 25,000 youngsters and their families, having recently completed its second tour and a summer season at the Riverside Studios.
A high-energy, 50-minute adventure, the production features original music written by Tom Fletcher and Barrie Bignold. Expect plenty of playful fun for your littlest ones as their favourite characters come to life in a show that is packed with interactive moments to enjoy together.
Tom Fletcher said, “It’s been an amazing experience to see There’s a Monster In Your Book, come to life on stage and to meet the characters that I invented in my head!
“And it’s been incredible to be a part of developing the show and combining my love of writing books and stories with writing some of the songs for the production. When we began this journey at the beginning of 2023, I couldn’t have dreamed that we’d have toured the country for nearly a year, had a residency in London and be heading out on a third national tour this autumn! It’s testimony to the extraordinary puppeteers and the gorgeous puppets.

Surprise, surprise: These monsters are not necessarily all that scary
“There’s A Monster In Your Show is the perfect first theatre trip for young families. Going to the theatre with kids can be stressful but this is a totally interactive show where children are actively encouraged to shout, sing, clap and dance!”
The cast features actor/puppeteers Andrew Cullimore (Sarah and Duck, The Smurfs, The Very Hungry Caterpillar), Charlie Daniels (Hey Duggee, Sarah and Duck’s Big Top Birthday and His Dark Materials), Vinnie Monachello (Hey Duggee: The Live Theatre Show, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, In The Night Garden Live), Ben Murrell (In The Night Garden Live, Twirlywoos Live, Very Hungry Caterpillar, Elmer and the Patchwork Elephant, Goosebumps Alive) and Sarah Palmer (Oi Frog and Friends Live, Hey Duggee! The Live Theatre Show).
There’s a Monster in Your Show is adapted for the stage by Zoe Bourn, with design by Laura McEwen and puppets created by Keith Frederick. Puppet direction is by Roman Stefanski, associate director at Polka Theatre (Sarah & Duck and Twirlywoos). Katie Haygarth is associate director.
The show is directed by Miranda Larson who adapted Tom Fletcher’s The Christmasaurus and the YouTube phenomena Little Baby Bum for the stage and produced by Millennium Entertainment International.
