Teenager suffered ‘life-changing injury’ in Park Street shooting

Crime scene: Park Street and part of Croydon High Street through to George Street remained cordoned off following last night’s shooting

The victim of the shooting in Croydon town centre last night was a 17-year-old who suffered “a potentially life-changing injury”.

This afternoon, Park Street and parts of Croydon High Street remained cordoned off as a crime scene, while the Metropolitan Police investigation is on-going with an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Officers have been seen at the scene gathering evidence, while CCTV footage in the area is also being checked.

The Metropolitan Police say that at 7.37pm, they responded to reports “of firearms discharge at Park Street, Croydon, and a male having been shot”.

Police officers and London Ambulance paramedics rushed to the scene, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim was taken to hospital, with an update on his condition still awaited.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: “An investigation is underway after a teenager was injured in a shooting in Croydon.

“We were called at 19:37hrs on Monday, February 10, to reports of a shooting in Park Street.

“Met officers responded with paramedics, and a 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. His condition was assessed as potentially life-changing. His next of kin have been informed.

“A crime scene is in place, and enquiries are ongoing. There have been no arrests.

“Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 6140/10Feb. To remain anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

1 Response to Teenager suffered ‘life-changing injury’ in Park Street shooting

  1. it was terrible reading that a teenager was shot in park street croydon croydon is becoming a dangerous place to live in what with knife crimes as well but it is also dangerous for adults who are in the path of a gunman or a person who is carrying a knife i noticed croydon high street post office was closed all day because of the police incident we need far more police on our streets to tackle these hateful crimes however we can blame governments for cutting back on the police force however i was amazed to learn on the internet the borough with the lowest amount of crime is sevenoaks in kent
