More service disruption for New Addington’s tram passengers

Branch line: there will be disrupted service to New Addington, Elmers End and Beckenham Junction due to urgent engineering work this weekend

The tram network east of East Croydon Station will be virtually shut down most of this weekend “due to essential maintenance works”, Transport for London has announced today.

There is to be a normal service on all trams until 8.30pm on Saturday, January 17.

Then, according to TfL, there will be no service between:

  • East Croydon and Beckenham Junction and Elmers End
  • East Croydon and New Addington

Trams will operate between Wimbledon and East Croydon.

On Sunday January 18, TfL says, “There will be no service to or from Elmers End, and between East Croydon and Sandilands.

Until 10pm on Sunday, trams will operate as follows:

  • Wimbledon and East Croydon
  • Sandilands and Beckenham Junction
  • Sandilands and New Addington

Trams are expected to return to full operation on the network after 10pm, with normal service on Monday, January 19.

“We are sorry for any disruption caused to your journey,” TfL said.
