Upper Norwood Library announces events for half-term week

library sign upper norwoodThe Upper Norwood Library, now being run by a hard-working group of local people, has a number of events coming up later this month (including during half-term week), some of which require advance booking.

Tue May 27, 10.30am – 12pm: Greek myths – stories and mask-making: Listen to the amazing myths of ancient Greece and make your own Grecian masks to fool friends and family.

Age: 5 – 10-year-olds

Charge: £2 per child. Please book in advance at the library as spaces are limited.

Thu May 29, 3.30–4pm: Tales from ancient Greece: If you love mythology here is another opportunity to hear more tales from ancient Greece.

Age: 4 + year olds

Charge: Free, but donations welcomed.

Sat May 31, 2.30–3.30pm: Book Club: For the third meeting we will discuss The Dirty South by Alex Wheatle. There are plenty of copies at the library; if you don’t see it on display at the counter, just ask.

Refreshments will be served.

Age: Adults

Charge: Free, but donations welcomed.

Please confirm attendance by email/telephone/in person, as spaces are limited to 12 per session. Extra sessions can be arranged with advance notice.

Mon June 2 at 10am–12pm: Stitch Pitch: patchwork and quilting workshop: Fiona will be teaching patchwork and quilting. Work will be done by hand, but if you have a PAT-tested sewing machine you may bring this along. Fiona’s sewing machine may be used on occasion, when required. Refreshments will be served.

Age: Adults

Charge: Special introductory price of £2 per session for first three months and £3 per session afterwards.
