Croydon Minster has released details of its services for Christmas, which begin this Sunday, December 1 at 5.30pm, with a service of Carols by Candlelight.
Christmas Cheer on Saturday, December 14 at 4pm is a special opportunity to see the choir of Croydon Minster in concert alongside the Croydon Citadel Band of the Salvation Army.
“The evening will feature some of the most recognisable and traditional Christmas music, alongside modern classics from film and beyond,” says Rev David Adamson-Hill.
“There’ll be lots of opportunities to join in the singing, with the late afternoon concert being the perfect opportunity for families to get in the Christmas spirit.”
On Sunday December 22 at 5.30pm is the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. “Our Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols follows the traditional pattern as used by King’s College, Cambridge,” Rev Adamson-Hill says.
“At this candle lit service the Christmas story will be told through readings from scripture accompanied by the choir of Croydon Minster singing a selection of the most well-known and traditional Christmas anthems and carols.
“Our Christmas Masses will be celebrated at 11pm on Christmas Eve December 24, and at 10am on Christmas Day. Both of these Eucharistic services are accompanied by the choir of Croydon Minster and offer an opportunity to celebrate Christ’s birth with communion.
“All are very welcome.”
